Thinking that dentures are your only option in Charlotte? Think again.

Dentures are no longer the only option for people missing teeth in Charlotte, NC. Historically, dentures were often the only option available when, for whatever reason, a person had lost a tooth or a number of teeth. With advances in cosmetic dentistry, people are now able to choose between dentures and dental implants.

Dentures not always easy to wear

Dentures sometime fit poorly or cause pain from rubbing and food getting caught under them. Having dentures sometimes means having to use messy sealants to protect your gums from food particles. Many times, people have to give up eating some of the foods they love because the dentures just don’t provide the ability to bite into some things. Dental implants can replace one or more lost teeth. They are anchored firmly into the jawbone, basically the same as your natural teeth are attached.

Denture materials improved, but still not as comfortable as dental implants

The materials used to produce dentures has improved considerably over the years so that it is now possible to provide false teeth that look much more natural than in the past. However, it is still difficult to provide a truly comfortable pair of dentures.

If you have been considering dentures in the Charlotte, NC area, you may want to talk to your dentist about the possibility of having dental implants instead of, or in conjunction with them. Your cosmetic dentist at Ballantyne Center for Dentistry should be able to give you more information  about what implants can and cannot do for you.
